Read to Thrive has been fortunate to work with many wonderful volunteers! They strongly believe in our mission and are passionate about working with children in their communities. Our volunteers are our heroes! We hope that their stories will inspire you to give back to your communities!
“I have always enjoyed working with children, and I have also always enjoyed reading. By volunteering for Read to Thrive, I get to share my passion for reading and inspire the children in the book club. Being able to see little kids enjoy reading and learning motivates me to be a better person. In my free time, I enjoy painting and playing the guitar. I also enjoy photography as well as travelling with my family.”
“I have chosen volunteering with Read to Thrive as it gives me an opportunity to give our time and knowledge to the kids. It gives me immense satisfaction when I was able to interact with them and make them learn something new. I am passionate about reading books that also added for opting the book club program. My hobbies include playing shuttle, carroms and watching movies. I love travelling and keeping myself busy in any activity.”
“I chose to volunteer because I love reading and want to help instill that love in others too. I met with Tara and got to hear about the positive impact that the reading clubs were making on the students that she helped. I knew that Read to Thrive was the place for me. Every month, I like seeing how excited the kids are to talk about the books. Outside of volunteering, I’m a digital marketer for a financial analytics company. I enjoy finding new restaurants to try and have a big soft spot for milk tea.”
“Olivia has always loved to read and used to win the reading contests at school in the first – 3rd grade and then joined BOB (Battle of the Books) in 4 -5th grades. She would love to share her love of reading with other children.
Olivia participates in our school debate team. She enjoys dance and musical theater. She has been on our area swim team for the last four years and plans to swim in high school, next year. Olivia is in the 8th grade at St. Margarets Episcopal School in San Juan Capistrano, CA.”
